The world is big. Endless mystery, cosmic questions, and unfathomable beautiful possibilities--the potential for our lives is immense.
But for little girls, the world can be so small. Girls at this age are members of our society, of our community--beyond the walls of Raintree.
Little girls are affected by what they see and hear in our world. When posed with the question, "What is a girl?", the girls of Raintree spoke up. Members of Girl Pod shared their interpretations of what it means to be a girl through discussion and self-portraits.
What does it mean to be a girl?
What are the rights of girls?
How should Girl Pod share their voice?
These are the questions the girls were asked during our first meetings together. We were beaming with pride and giddy with excitement over their responses.
Girls have the right...to climb...to take risks...to share their voice...to try new things...to learn...
Girl Pod should...make more videos...make postcards...invite others to hike...
The possibilities are endless in their eyes. We are ready to help them to make these possibilities a reality, to fulfill their potential, to practice their rights.
Our vision is less about girl power and more about inspiring young girls to be strong, smart and bold...because they are. Girls of all ages have a voice and we want to hear it!
