Raintree School is an independent school in Town & Country, MO on eleven beautiful acres of woodland. As the first and only forest school in Missouri, Raintree School welcomes children, ages 2 through 8, and their families from across the St. Louis metro area. Our school is open 5 days a week, 11 hours a day, 12 months a year. Our model green campus boasts an acre of student gardens, a green kitchen, a natural playscape, prairie and woodland with a bubbling creek, an art studio, and sunny classrooms with nature vistas. This inspirational backdrop, diverse environments, and lush landscape enrich children’s inquiry, spark passionate pursuits, and deepen each child’s curiosity to love and learn about the world around them.
Forest Schools continue to be created around the world by a diverse group of critical thinkers, adding to the broader debate about what educating children should look like. Raintree School maintains our support of nature-filled place-based education with committed teachers dedicated to making nature-loving, proactive citizens a reality.
Our faculty are sought after across the country to share the story of our reggio-inspired forest school. We have developed strong partnerships within our community to advocate for innovative teaching, reflective practice, and courageous education encounters that empower children of all ages to be proactive citizens. And with a responsibility to provide exceptional learning opportunities for educators, we offer opportunities for teachers to obtain certification as a forest school practitioner.
We are a community of dedicated, collaborative, and innovative teachers focused on sharing our progressive, social-constructivist model. Ideal candidates possess a knowledge of early childhood development, are familiar with the Reggio Emilia Approach and Forest School. Experience with Emergent Curriculum, Experiential Education, and Place-Based Learning are pillars that support our pedagogy. This framework lives alongside our commitment to citizenship, personalized learning, and inquiry-based science. Members of Raintree's faculty hold certifications in early childhood and elementary education and have advanced degrees in education.
